The new McCadam boarding house opens on the 800 block of west Main Street. (The home would remain at the location until August 1960 when moved out west of town on old highway 10, to become the home of the Donald Briese family.)
1903
President Theodore Roosevelt embarked on a nine and a half week journey across the western half of the country in April 1903. Roosevelt wanted to personally talk to people and give an account of his previous term in office. Mandan was one of five stops in North Dakota. He spoke from a stand erected on the north side of the depot especially for the occasion. After completing his speech, Roosevelt returned to his railcar and joined by three past area friends for the trainride to Medora.

The rail line out south of Mandan was under construction and was completed the following summer despite heavy infestation of mosquitoes.
The Topic Theater, located one block west of the InterOcean Hotel, installed an electric sign to help promote their nightly variety shows. The venue included moving pictures accompanied by music provided by the local Imperial Orchestra. Other variety acts included Fredric, the Great Magician, Miss LaMable, the Great Serpertine Dancer, and Jack Symonds, the Tramp Monologist. In October 1909 the Taylor Drug Co. located at 104 West Main St displayed all their numbered presecriptions from 1 to 64308 which they had filled out since their business was established in 1881. They also displayed photographs taken when the city was in its infancy, including pictures of the old depot when it was situated in the east end of town and numberious pictures of the pusiness portion of the city from the early days.
